Abrasive blasting consists in cleaning or preparing a surface by projecting a stream of abrasive material against a surface under high pressure. The result can be to smoothen a rough surface or roughen a smooth surface, shape a surface or remove surface contaminants entirely.
This method involves the projection of small molten particles of zinc onto a prepared surface forming a continuous coating. To create the molten particles we use an atomization/projection method. Upon contact the particles are flattened onto the surface, freeze and mechanically bond firstly onto the roughened substrate and then onto each other as the coating thickness is increased.
